Commercial Bow and D Shackles
All the commercial Bow and D shackles supplied by Bishop are a cost effective alternative to the other available shackles that are untested, manufactured from mild steel and have little corrosion resistance. The products that we carry are of the best quality and contain best-in-class features to guarantee safe results. Lifting Dee shackles that we supply have an electro-galvanized coating unlike other versions that cannot be used for lifting applications or other purposes where safety is a concern.
These commercial shackles are fasteners with a broad range of applications. Being secured by means of a screw pin, they are more reliable than spring loaded clips or cargo straps. Ideal for linking to chains, tensioners, and other metal fasteners, they can also be used as attachment points for ropes and straps. By using a commercial shackle rather than rated lifting gear for any application to which they are suited, you can reserve your heavy duty equipment for what it was actually designed to do, and remind operators of the need to use the correct tackle when lifting and handling.
Please note that these are not lifting shackles, they have not been tested and should not be used as part of a lifting apparatus, other than to secure untensioned retaining straps.
Commercial Dee Shackles
The D shackle is exactly what people think of for this type of equipment. Since it is ‘U’ shaped when the pin is removed, the dee shackle makes for quick and easy attachment and detachment of connectors, while the round bottom means there are no corners where straps might get caught. Dee shackles are ideal for retaining unloaded chains, or attaching any other type of fastener to a fixed connection eye for non-lifting purposes. For example, when using a heavy duty tarp to cover a load on a flat bed trailer, dee shackles will provide convenient attachment points around the perimeter of the bed.
Commercial Bow Shackles
Otherwise known as Omega shackles, bow shackles are very similar to the above dee shackles in form and operation. The sole difference is that a bow shackle has an extra curve, designed to prevent loads from settling against the pin. Various sizes are available.
